The context

Katcha CBD-Shop is a shop in Saint-Marcellin, in the Sud-Grésivaudan area, open since 2022. CBD flowers, resins, oils, herbal teas and cosmetics, sourced from French producers. The owner knows his customers by first name and sells advice before products. The site had to extend that, not replace it.

The problem

A physical shop open since 2022, with loyal customers, but no online sales. Mainstream e-commerce platforms and consumer payment providers (Stripe, PayPal, Lydia, SumUp) exclude hemp products in their terms of use. Starting from an off-the-shelf solution was not an option.

CBD is legal in France, yet it remains excluded from the terms of use of most online retail tools. Stripe freezes funds, PayPal, Lydia and SumUp refuse the activity, and turnkey store platforms rely on those same providers. The site had to work without them from day one, and be able to plug in a specialised provider later without a rebuild.

The solution

Hand-coded e-commerce site: catalogue by category, search, favourites, cart, customer accounts, promo codes, age check at the door and timestamped terms of sale on every order. The site has no back office: orders, stock and customers are managed in the Zelyntis dashboard, with a push notification on the owner's phone for every order. In-store pickup until a payment provider that accepts CBD is connected.

In-store pickup as the main sales channel

The customer builds a cart online, picks a time slot and pays at the counter. The order lands on the owner's phone, who ticks off items as they are prepared. An email goes out automatically when the order is ready. Payment and preparation are tracked separately, so a ready order is never held up because a payment has not been recorded yet.

No back office on the site

Products, stock, orders, customers and promo codes are managed in the Zelyntis dashboard, the same tool used for quotes and invoices. The public site only holds what the buyer sees. Less attack surface, a single login for the owner, and a site that stays lean.

Sector obligations built into the flow

Age check at the door, THC rate and usage warnings, terms of sale accepted and timestamped on every order, low-stock alert sent each morning. These are regulatory constraints, and they were treated as site features rather than notices bolted on at the end.

Emails that look like the shop

Order confirmation, order ready, account creation, password reset: every email carries the shop's green, its logo and its footer. A buyer should never wonder who is writing to them.

Frequently asked questions

Why not use Shopify or WooCommerce?

Those platforms rely on payment providers that exclude CBD, and their terms allow account closure without notice. A hand-coded site belongs to the shop owner and depends on no platform to stay online.

How does the owner manage products and orders?

From the Zelyntis dashboard, on desktop or phone. He adds products, tracks stock, prepares orders and records payments. It is the same dashboard used for quotes and invoices by other Zelyntis clients.

Can delivery and card payment be added later?

Yes, both are already in the code and switched off in the settings. It will only take connecting the chosen payment provider, with no rebuild of the checkout.
